Storm across North Georgia leaves extensive damage and thousands without power

GEORGIA – A severe thunderstorm, that traveled across north Georgia counties Sunday night, left extensive damage and thousands without power going into this week.

Georgia Power stated that they are continuously working to restore power to their customers.

“Our crews remain in the field working to address widespread damage from Sunday night’s storms, have already restored power to 275,000+ customers, and we will continue to work around the clock until everyone who can receive power is reconnected.”

Live outages and wait times are avalible on their website as well as on going updates and storm safety tips.

Sunday’s storm came about quickly, with many local residents stating the storm came about fast and believed it was tornado due to the strong winds and debris that was left behind.

The National Weather Service did not report a tornado in the area but did report a severe thunderstorm.
