It’s Thursday February 1st 2018, and that means it’s time for Karla’s Korner! Today Karla and BKP are discussing what is happening in and around Groundhog Day in Gilmer County! Friday and Saturday Cartecay vineyards will have an actual ground hog for Groundhog Day for photo op!
Brought to you by the Gilmer Chamber of Commerce, today in Karla’s Korner, BKP and Karla discuss upcoming events in February including: The Business Annual Meeting, Wine About Winter, Wine Tasting at Cartecay Vineyards, Dueling Pianos at River Street Tavern and the Basket Ball Tournament at Gilmer Parks and Recreation.
Karla started her show this morning saying GO DAWGS!!! I have to agree with her on that note. Then she told us that TODAY is the 75th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition. So this holiday season while you are getting festive you can buy your favorite spirits from these local places: The Hitching Post, Mountain Treasures, Cartecay Vineyards, Chateau Mitchre, and Appalachian Beverage. The next great local gift you can give your family and friends is gift certificates to local restaurants. There are so many great ones in our small town to choose from. Lastly if your family has been thinking about getting a new furry friend; visit you local animal shelter. Make a difference in an animal’s life this Christmas by giving them a forever home with your family. As always we would like to thank the Gilmer County Chamber for sponsoring this segment.
Tuesday mornings mean a great time with Karla from Gilmer Chamber. Karla tells us about the Tater Patch Players Youth Theater production of “Charlotte’s Web.” This production has three showings left: Friday at 7 PM and Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM. This weekend is a nice quiet weekend in Gilmer county. There will be live music at the local vineyards and at the Legion. Saturday morning is also the Ellijay Farmer’s Market. Get out this weekend and enjoy the beautiful north GA mountains. For times or information on live music and other events in Gilmer County this weekend, check out the Gilmer Chamber Event’s Calendar.
What a great weekend it was at the Apple Blossom Festival! Karla, Paige and all of the Gilmer Chamber board members made that event such a huge success. Karla tells BKP about some great things to do with Mom on this Mother’s Day weekend. Forest Hills is doing brunch, Chateau Meichtry & Cartecay Vineyards are having Mother’s Day specials and bands playing Saturday and Sunday. Also, Cartecay River Clean Up is Saturday, May 13th if you want to get out and give back to Mother Earth. They will end the clean up day with live music and games. The General Store at Eagle Mountain will be hosting Pick N’ On the Porch on Saturday night as well. So many great things to get into with mom on her special weekend. Karla finishes up by telling us that Taste of Ellijay is May 25th! Mark your calendars because if you like to eat you do not want to miss this!
