All-Region Team for 7-AAAA Announced

The All-Region football team for Region 7-AAAA was released on Monday.

Among the Gilmer players selected on the first team were fullback Tyler Bertolini, wide receiver Connor Webber, tight end Austin Cole, defensive lineman Garrett Ralston, and defensive backs Colt Henderson and Cameron Kephart.

Cats Rumble With Rebels in Day Two of ETC Tournament

The Gilmer Lady Cats and Bobcats faced off with the Fannin Lady Rebels and Rebels in the second day of games in the ETC Tipoff Tournament on Monday.
Gilmer’s teams were moderately successful against Fannin, as the Lady Cats fought hard but ultimately came up short and the Bobcats used a strong fourth quarter effort to come out on top. (more…)

Bobcats on the Brink of Breaking Several School Records

The Lady Indians and Indians’ basketball teams of Lumpkin County came to Gilmer County to take on the Gilmer High School Lady “Cats” and Bobcats. “The Cage” claimed two victims, as the Lady Indians were pummeled 47-36, in a game not nearly as close as the final score indicated, and the Indians were scalped by 30 points, 80-50. Bobcats out Rumble Ramblers, 36-35, In Double Overtime

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team outlasted the Ramblers of LaFayette, with a 36-35 thrilling double overtime victory on the Bobcats’ home field. The game was decided when Connor Webber, scored two points on a fake field goal on Gilmer’s point after attempt. The game winning score came directly after, quarterback Marlen Hensley connected with Webber on a 25 yard touchdown pass on fourth and 20. The win gave Gilmer a 7-3 record, it’s first winning season in a decade. (more…)

Bulldogs Bite Bobcats: Win 46-6

The Gilmer High School Bobcats made the long trek to Cedartown, to take on the Bulldogs. Cedartown showed the visitors no hospitality as the Bulldogs cruised to a 46-6 victory. Gilmer simply had no answer for the Bulldogs rushing attack, as Cedartown racked up a 416-55 yard advantage on the ground. The running game was so effective that the Bulldogs won despite completing only one pass on the night. (more…)
