The Gilmer High School Lady Cats basketball team, the number one seed from Region 7-AAAA, hosted a first round state playoff game versus the Lady Red Raiders of Madison County, the number four seed from Region 8. The Lady Cats clobbered Madison County, routing the Red Raiders 55-33. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats softball team clinched a state title birth and first round home series with a second place finish in the Region 7-AAAA tournament, held at Heritage Park in Dalton Georgia. The Lady “Cats” stayed unbeaten throughout the tournament before falling in both games of the Region Championship to Heritage to finish as the Runner-Up and the number two seed. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats basketball team spent the better part of last week in Murray County participating in the Mistletoe Madness tournament. The Lady “”Cats” finished with a 1-2 record over the duration of the tournament. Wednesday night Gilmer lost to Sonoraville 54-37, then rebounded on Friday Night, destroying Christian Heritage 70-27. Saturday saw Gilmer face Dalton for the second time in as many weeks, but the Lady Catamounts was able to get the best of Gilmer’s “Cats” this time around. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats basketball team had mixed results last week, in two games played. On Tuesday night, the Lady “Cats” traveled to Gainesville to take on Chestatee, in a game full of unforced turnovers. These turnovers caused Gilmer to lose the game by a score of 40-37. Friday night, GHS traveled to Dalton to face the Lady Catamounts in an overall better game by Gilmer, which led to a 57-45 win. (more…)

The three seniors honored, Caitlin Coleman, Skyler Banks, and Erin Barclay, were recognized and given gifts from the rest of the Lady “Cats” crew. The Gilmer Lady Bobcats softball team hosted the region rival, Pickens Dragonettes, in the first home game of the season. While the junior varsity squad came away with a 4-2 win, the varsity fell 11-4 despite leading 4-3 going into the seventh, and final, inning. (more…)
The Gilmer High School Lady Bobcats softball team, fresh off of two mercy ruled losses on the road, at Lumpkin and Fannin respectively, looked to rebound in the team’s first home stand of the season. The “Cats” bats were paused by the paws of the Lady Panthers of Union, 9-1, and the Lady Rebels of Fannin, rose in the sixth to secure a 6-3 win for the visitors. (more…)
The Lady Bobcats softball team traveled to Lumpkin County High School on Tuesday to take on the Lady Indians. After a controversial call ended the junior varsity game, which saw the Lady Indians get a 2-1 victory despite the game ending with Gilmer at the plate and two women on; the varsity took the field, falling 9-1. The Clear Creek Middle School Lady Bobcats softball team posted an 8-0 shutout victory over the Lady Rebels of Fannin County Middle School. The Lady Bobcats used a combination of timely hitting and base running that burned up the Lady Rebels’ defense … worse then when General Sherman came through town. (more…)
