Bobcats Pin Opponents Sweep Competition Cobra Kai Style

The Gilmer County High School Bobcats wrestling team opened their season at the West Hall Spartan Slam, where they dominated the day, pinning people like they were tailless donkeys. They won with scores of: 59-24 (Parkview); 65-18 (West Hall); 54-12 (Lumpkin County); 48-21 (White County); and 51-24 (Cartersville).The Bobcats, although on the road, had a boisterous crowd mostly compiled of proud parents, such as Milton and Carol Perry, whose son Freshman 103 Cameron Perry, was unable to wrestle an actual opponent until the third dual of the day due to receiving two early forfeits. Perry wasted no time with a 59 second pin.

The Bobcats had a plethora of quick matches on the day, several of which were decided by pins within the first minute. They did not have a match go the full distance until junior Sam Rogers (140) secured a 9-6 win versus Lumpkin County in the third match of the day.
Coincidentally Lumpkin County was also the first school to lead the scoreboard on the Bobcats when freshman Kyle Woodhall (132) was pinned in the first match of the dual, the lead was short lived as the Bobcats regained the lead with Rogers’ match and never relinquished it.

The scariest moment of the day was easily when heavy weight J.P. Pritchett endured a large laceration on his head which, stopped the action for a least 15 minutes and required a head wrap that would have made Gregory House proud. Pritchett incurred the injury while securing a two point take down. He was not only able to continue the match but won it with a pin 45 seconds in the second period.
