“Cats” Like Water

The Gilmer County Swim Team will be headed to Tifton, Georgia to participate in the state final swim meet, which takes place on July 22nd and 23rd. The top three finishers from the District 5 B/C GRPA Championship Swim Meet qualify for the state meet. However, some swimmers were able to qualify for state without placing in the top three, due to a top three placer scratching out of the state meet. A total of 25 swimmers qualified for 37 events. The coaches are: Larry Lykins (Head Coach), Megan Higgins and Jacob Mabry.In addition to the District 5 GRPA Championship meet, the District 5, six and under Championship meet was held July 9th. Anna Waddell is the District Champion in the 25 Freestyle and 25 Backstroke. Law Lykins is the District Champion in the 25 Backstroke and 2nd in the 25 freestyle. Larz Fowler participated and placed 3rd in the 25 backstoke and 4th in the 25 freestyle.
