Barbara Jane Beckman Gerhardt was born December 16, 1923 in Mobile, Alabama to William Ewart Beckman and Stella Frances Burks Beckman.Barbara and Paul Jacob Gerhardt, a WWII Navy Veteran, married May 4, 1946 and moved to his home town of Bay Village, Ohio where they raised two daughters. They were married fifty-three years.
Barbara Gerhardt was a graduate of Murphy High School, a member of Dauphin Way Baptist Church during her youth, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and a Sunday school teacher for many years at Bay Presbyterian Church. The Gerhardt Dauphin Island, Alabama retirement home where the family congregated for over twenty-five years was a source of great pleasure.
Barbara is survived by daughters Paulette Burks Stewart and Suzanne Gerhardt Bracken, son-in-law Dr. Phillip Bracken, granddaughter Michelle Bracken, grandson Craig Bracken and spouse Shanna, great grandson Taylor Bracken, niece Kathy Gifford and husband James, Marshall Gifford, and other family and friends. She is interned at Magnolia Cemetery next to her maternal grandmother and grandfather in the Doric Edward Burks family section.
