Gilmer County Sheriff Stacy Nicholson was recently re-elected to serve the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association as Region 1 Vice President at their summer conference in Calloway Gardens. Although the Sheriff wasn’t present for the conference, he was nominated by Region 1 Sheriff Scott Chitwood of Whitfield County and elected by the Sheriffs who were present.
Regional Vice Presidents serve the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association as a liaison between the Sheriffs of their respective regions to the Executive Director of the Sheriffs’ Association. This position also places those elected to serve on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association. The Region 1 area covers 14 counties from Dade County to Polk County in the Northwest corner of the state with its eastern boundary from Fannin County to Pickens County.
Sheriff Nicholson stated,
“It is truly an honor to be respected enough by my peers to be nominated and re-elected to this position.”
