Mrs. Peggy Sue Holloway Walker: Obituary

Mrs. Peggy Sue Holloway Walker, age 75 of Cherry Log, Georgia passed on Thursday, March 26, 2015, at her residence. Born June 2, 1939 in Cherry Log, Georgia to her late parents Ernest and Mary Plemmons Holloway. She was a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1957 and attended Oglethorpe and West Georgia University. Mrs. Walker was a 42 year retiree of the Greater Atlanta Christian School and owner of the High Valley Gift Shop in Ellijay. She was a member of the Ellijay Church of Christ and organized the Hispanic Children’s Ministry. She also served on the Board of Directors of Georgia AGAPE and the Board of Directors of the Christian Book Sellers of America. She was a renowned national speaker at numerous Lady’s Day events.

Mrs. Walker is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roy Walker of Cherry Log, GA, daughters and son-in-law, Pamela Sue Walker Jones of Franklin, TN, Joy and Chris Janke of Greenville, SC, son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Pam Walker of Nashville, TN, adopted son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Angie Hunter of Ellijay, GA , grandchildren, Alexander and Austin Jones, Kate Mason, Sarah Fletcher DeLisle, Casey Sullivan, Burton Walker and Rebekah Grace Fletcher, great grandchildren, Annabelle Grace Jones and Abigail Faith Jones, brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Martha Holloway of Ellijay, GA and Benny and Kathy Holloway of Chatsworth, GA, Elizabeth B. Holloway of Marietta, GA, sisters and brothers-in-law, Irene and Ralph Chancey of Cherry Log, GA and Joyce and Lail Callahan of Ellijay, GA. She is preceded in death by her grand daughter, Alexandria Joy Jones and brother, J.W. Holloway.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday March 29th, 2015 at the Ellijay Church of Christ with Min. Butch Jones, Jackie Bradford, Min. Alfred Donald, Min. Howard Wright and Min. Clarence Black officiating. Congregational singing will be led by Mr. Jim Wright. Graveside Interment will follow in Boardtown Church of Christ Cemetery with Larry Callahan, Joshua Holloway, Sidney Holloway, Gerald Chancey, Johnny Chancey, Steve Driskell, Joe Driskell and Jonathan Donald serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Kingsley, Dale Hunter, David Fincher, Randall Jackson, Tim Hall, Jeff Wilder, Ken White, Billy Weeks, Tommy Hunter and Joe Sisson.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2015, at the Ellijay Church of Christ, 351 North Main Street, Ellijay, Georgia. In Lieu of Flowers the family requests that donations be made to the North Georgia Bible Camp at 369 Oak Drive McCaysville, GA 30555 in memory of Mrs. Walker.
