Wayne Emero Merritt age 88 of Ellijay, Georgia, formerly of Minnesota, passed on Wednesday, May 20th, 2015 at the Gilmer Nursing Home.He was born March 4th, 1927 in Hackensack, MN. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Merritt was self employed as a carpenter. Donations may be made to Soldiers Best Friend, Veterans Service Dogs, 7445 W. Acoma Drive, Peoria, AZ. 85381, in memory of Mr. Merritt.
Survivors include wife Sharon Selby Merritt of the home in Ellijay; children and in-laws James Darsey of Atlanta, GA., Lisa Fauskino and Sarah Elwood of Seattle, WA., Dale and Kim Darsey of Cumming, GA., Christy Darsey of Petaluma, CA. Alex Darsey and Shawna Wright of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren Colton Darsey and Kyler Darsey both of Cumming, GA., Amelie Meieran and Natasha Meieran Petaluma, CA.; Sister, Ellie Brescia of California; Nephews, Erik, Lee, and Don Merritt, all of Minneapolis, MN, Bill Merritt of Floodwood, MN, and several other nieces and nephews also survive.
Services will be held at a later date in Minnesota.
