The Gilmer County Board of Education has officially welcomed Dr. Shanna Wilkes as Superintendent.The Gilmer County Charter School System has officially approved Dr. Wilkes with a unanimous vote on Monday, June 29, 2015. Her first day will begin after a short period to finish out plans she has had and to get settled in to Gilmer County.

On July 13, Dr. Wilkes will step in as Superintendent, taking the reins from Dr. Charles Webb who has been the Interim Superintendent until now. After this, Dr. Webb will remain with Dr. Wilkes for the remainder of July to help accommodate her in her new position.
