Herbert W. Newton: Obituary

Herbert W. Newton age 83 of Cherrylog died Saturday January 9, 2016.

Mr. Newton was born May 26, 1932 in Gilmer County the son of the late Arthur and Leola Worley Newton. He was a retired textile worker, of the Baptist Faith and a veteran serving in the US Army. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Beatrice Allen Newton, brothers: Eugene, Bill and Ernest Newton.

Survivors include: son and girlfriend; Wayne Newton and Kathy Nicholson, Cherrylog, daughter and son-in-law; Tammy and Terry Ramsey, Cherrylog, 5 grandchildren Jennifer and Michael Pack, Epworth, Kristin and Matt Taylor, Turtletown, TN, Dana and Josh Fountain, Cherrylog, Brooks Newton and Paul Zografos, Sydney ,Australia, Stephanie Trantham and Tommy Tate, Cherrylog, 11 great-grandchildren, sister and brother-in-law: Maebelle and Ewiel Hice, Cherrylog, brother and sisters-in-law: Bobby and Aletha Newton, Ellijay Aretta Newton, Chatsworth, Brenda Newton, Ellijay, Sarah Cledith Allen, Cherrylog several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 2pm from the chapel of the Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Stover officiating. Interment will be in the Underwood Cemetery.

The family will meet with friends Sunday from 5 until 9pm at the funeral home.
