Mrs. Eunice Farist Davenport: Obituary

Mrs. Eunice Farist Davenport of Ellijay, GA passed on Thursday, December 15th, 2016 at the Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper, GA.

Mrs. Davenport was born in Ellijay, GA to her late parents Emory and Maude Waddell Farist. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and graduated Ellijay High School, Class of 1946. Eunice was employed by Tankersley Cleaners, Robert Shaw Controls and later owned and operated Eunice’s Beauty Shop. Eunice is preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Davenport, son, Willis Davenport, sister, Gertrude Farist Reece, and brothers, Milford Farist and James Farist.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Freddie Ray of Ellijay, GA; son and daughters-in-law, Alex and Janice Davenport and Debbie Weaver Davenport, all of Ellijay, GA; grandchildren, Rebecca Smith, Evan Davenport, and Justin Davenport; great grandchildren, Josiah Smith, Megan Smith, Raychel Smith, Charlotte Davenport and Harper Davenport; sister, Bernice Farist Garrett of Ellijay, GA also survives.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, December 19th, 2016 from the Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Euel Reece, Rev. Russell Burt, and Rev. Chad Kelly officiating. Music and vocals will be by Jerry Hensley, Irene Wofford, and the Ebenezer Baptist Church Choir. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Evan Davenport, Justin Davenport, Josiah Smith, Jason Smith, Emmett Farist and Larry Farist serving as pallbearers.

Family will receive friends from 1pm until 8pm on Sunday, December 18th, 2016 at Logan Funeral Home.
