Mr. William Arthur Alexander: Obituary

William Arthur Alexander (Bill) went home to be with his “Heavenly Father” at 82 years old on 3/18/2017. He was at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on 5/23/1934 in DeKalb County Georgia and survived by his loving wife of 62 years. Shirley Maddox Alexander. Daughters, Cynthia Alexander Allen, Karen Alexander Mullins (Son-in-law Freddy Mullins) Son William Hugh Alexander (Rega’na Beasley).

Ten grandchildren, Jennifer Mullins Murgo, Natalie Mullins Gilbert, Dana Allen Peaster, Paul Allen, Emily Allen, Cassandra Alexander, Tiffany Alexander Neidlinger, William R. Alexander, Tara Thompson, Crystal Jackson, and twelve great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his father William Pleasant Paul Alexander, Mother Stella Henderson Alexander. Survived by his Brother George Ray Alexander (Sister-in-law Linda), Sister Mary Elizabeth (Liz) Alexander Bailey (“Brother-in-law” Bobby Bailey), Lifelong friends Barbara and Jimmy Haralson, and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Bills life was held in the home officiated by Rev. Bobby Bailey. Bill and Shirley were neighbors and grew up in DeKalb County Georgia. They attended the same church in their neighborhood Decatur Heights Baptist Church where they married in 1955. Bill retired from Kroger and moved to “God’s Country” Mineral Bluff Georgia. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, Great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many.
