Opinion written by George McClellan:
Several little things occurring now offer predictability about event’s coming down the road in the near future. One of them will be the revived presidential aspirations of John Kasich, Gov. of Ohio. During the last campaign, the Governor, who never rose above forth place in the GOP candidate standings, still persevered in his ‘Never-Trump’ campaign long after the third place GOP candidate dropped out. Kasich hung in there like a bad Hillary Clinton dream.
Kasich displays the true grit determination that Winston Churchill spoke of when he advised the British people to “never, never, ever give up.” Of course, Winston was talking about fighting the Germans and probably had no notion at all that an obscure Ohio Governor would embody his philosophy of perseverance for no other apparent reason than politically refilling the DC swamp and re-populating it with the same establishment creatures that previously lurked there. Kasich doesn’t like disarray especially in the functioning of government. Order over chaos.
If you have ever been even remotely active politically, made a $5.00 donation or showed up at a GOP town hall rally, you’er on his email list and are receiving Kasich’s bland, “ah shucks” emails, soliciting donations so he can compete against Donald Trump in 2020. He will!
John Kasich is the consummate numbers cruncher and that’s good. He also firmly believe’s in bipartisanship with the Marxist party of Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, and that’s bad. The Democrats are a party now so far from the main stream as to have nearly no significance at all, except to act as obstructionists to Trumps progress.
The governor has just produced another political book, Two Path: America Divided or United. Immediately, it made the New York Time’s Bestseller’s list. How does that happen except by pre-arrangement? I should think bestsellers would achieve that valued position based on sales, not editorial selection as was the case with Fifty Shades of Grey, for example, with sales through the roof. Kasich’s book however, will never see the silver screen. They’re ganging up on Trump.
Gov. Kasich concluded the launch of his book at the Nixon Presidential Library, (where else?) His site tells us the Governor was greeted by “enthusiastic crowds” (that’s got to be fake news). If it isn’t Democrats, I can’t imagine where Kasich’s “enthusiastic crowds came from. The GOP base elected Trump, not Kasich. They still like Trump and will in 2020.
But, he’s not done yet. Kasich reads the letter he wrote to President Nixon resulting in an invitation by Nixon to visit the White House. Like the photo of Bill Clinton, as a youth meeting JFK, Kasich said his meeting with Nixon was important to his decision to make a career in public service. Won’t you please chip in (enter your donation) here.
“The dollars we raise go directly into helping tell not only the story about the work he’s (Kasich’s) doing to strengthen Ohio, but also provide a hopeful and more inclusive path forward for our country “ and, there is the hidden clue for 2020. I don’t know what “inclusive” means here.
Kasich’s emails offer other sites you can click on so you can hear him tell us again how bad government under Trump really is and only a numbers cruncher like him can fix it. Of course, Trump didn’t create the mess, Obama and the Democrats did. The conservative base picked Trump over everybody else, including John Kasich, but like Hillary, with a bit less animosity, he still cannot come to grips with the Trump presidency. Oh, do get over it John. Remember, freedom is the goal, the Constitution is the way. Now, Go get ‘em! (8May17)
