Mr. Harold William “Bill” Harrison, age 93 of Blairsville, GA, formerly of Ellijay, GA passed Friday morning, August 25th, 2017 at the Union County Nursing Home in Blairsville, GA.
Mr. Harrison was born January 3rd, 1924 in Springfield, MA to his late parents John William and Laura McCormick Harrison. He served honorably in the United States Army during WWII, and worked as a manager for Grant’s Department Store. Bill was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Blue Ridge, GA and was also a member of the American Legion, Post #82 in Ellijay, GA. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Elaine Braun Harrison and sons John and James Harrison.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Tony Love of Blairsville, GA and Judith and Joseph Lanza of Vero Beach, FL; sons and daughters-in-law Lawrence and Tammy Harrison of Dandridge, TN, Mark and Kay Harrison of Knoxville, TN and Steven Harrison of McDonough, TN; Twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
A military graveside memorial service will be held at 12:30pm on Monday, August 28th, 2017 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, where Bill and Mabel will be inurned together. Military honors will be performed by the United States Army.
