Gilmer Wins Wrestling Region

The Bobcats hosted the 6AAAA Traditional region tournament on Saturday, February  2nd at the Cage of Gilmer High School.  Individual athletes from Pickens, Heritage, SE Whitfield, NW Whitfield, LaFayette, and Ridgeland competed for the opportunity to move on to GHSA Sectionals and a chance at a Georgia State Championship.

In yet another exhibition of the talent of the Gilmer Wrestling program,  the Bobcats sent fourteen athletes to the mats with twelve earning the trip to sectionals this weekend at Woodward Academy in College Park, GA.  The hard work and dedication put in from not only the team but the coaching staff as well has proven to be paying off,  Of the fourteen that took the mat for Gilmer, twelve are heading to this weekend’s competition held in the metro area.  The Cats finished the day with 2 region champs, 4 runner-ups, 5 third place, 1 fourth place, and 2 fifth place finishers.  These outstanding results set up the Bobcats for a great weekend at Woodward Academy.  Best of Luck to all Sectional participants and GO BOBCATS!!
