ELLIJAY, Ga. – An official email from Gilmer’s County Clerk has confirmed that the Gilmer County Board of Commissioners has cancelled its December work session meeting.
According to available information from the county, the cancellation comes not in direct response to rising numbers. Rather, another exposure has come internally. Possibly to one of the county’s employees. This is not the first time this year that the county has cancelled a work session in response to COVID-19. Spring saw the county only meeting for their regular sessions and discussing topics during that meeting or via email.
Just as in those Spring sessions, the county will still hold it’s Thursday night meeting, December 10, 2020.
County Clerk Edwina Daman confirmed in an email that the Thursday meetings would still be held including the regular session, a public comments hearing on the 2021 Budget, and a Public Comments Hearing on changes to the county’s “Alcoholic Ordinance” of the Gilmer County Code to allow for the sale of beer and wine and the golf course.
These meetings will be held at 5 p.m. for the Alcohol Ordinance, 5:30 p.m. for the budget, and 6 p.m. for the regular session meeting.
