On September 13th, 2018, the Gilmer County Board of Commissioners designated Gilmer County as the Wrestling Capital of Georgia.
Today, a sign was unveiled we unveiled commemorating the Bobcats 19 State Championship Titles.
The Gilmer County High School wrestling program is regarded as one of the premier programs in the entire southeast.
The school’s first team state championship came in 2005 when they took home the Traditional title. They then went on to win the Traditional Championship in 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2022, and most recently in 2023.
The Bobcats brought home Dual Team Titles in 2005, 2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
