Northwest Whitfield Walks It Off Vs Gilmer

 

A walk-off left the Gilmer Bobcats on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to Northwest Whitfield on Tuesday at Northwest Whitfield High School. The game was tied at two in the bottom of the ninth when Brylan Bond hit a solo home run to left field.

 

The pitching was strong on both sides. Northwest Whitfield pitchers struck out seven, while Gilmer sat down seven.

 

Northwest Whitfield were the first to get on the board in the second when Gavin Nuckolls scored after tagging up.

 

Northwest Whitfield added one run in the third. Will Wade tripled to center field, making the score 2-0.

 

Peyton Chancey doubled to left field on an 0-2 count, which helped Gilmer tie the game at two in the top of the seventh.

 

Brylan Bond earned the win for Northwest Whitfield. The reliever gave up four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three and walking one. Landen McClure pitched three innings in relief for the Bruins. The reliever allowed one hit and zero runs while, striking out three and walking one. C.J Hatchett took the loss for Gilmer. The pitcher went two and one-third innings, giving up one run on one hit, striking out none and walking none. Slade Holt stepped on the mound first for Gilmer. The starter gave up one hit and one run over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Will Wade opened the game for Northwest Whitfield. The pitcher gave up four hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out four and walking seven.

 

Peyton Chancey drove the middle of the lineup, leading Gilmer with two runs batted in. The left fielder went 3-for-5 on the day. C.J Hatchett collected two hits for Gilmer in three at bats. Hayden Berry paced the Bobcats with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. C.J Hatchett stole two bases. Gilmer ran wild on the base paths, accumulating five stolen bases for the game. The Gilmer Bobcats were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Eli Cooper made the most plays with seven.

 

Brylan Bond led Northwest Whitfield with two runs batted in. The infielder went 1-for-4 on the day. Cameron Collins, Will Wade, Brylan Bond, and Gavin Nuckolls each collected one hit for Northwest Whitfield. Gavin Nuckolls stole two bases. Northwest Whitfield turned one double play in the game. Northwest Whitfield were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Deakon Edwards made the most plays with seven.

 

Gilmer welcomes Northwest Whitfield on Thursday for their next game.
