**Gutillo’s Big Bat Powers Bobcats to Dominant Win Over Towns County**
Noah Gutillo put on a show Wednesday night, blasting two home runs and racking up four RBIs as the Gilmer Bobcats steamrolled Towns County, 17-4.
Gutillo wasted no time making an impact, crushing a two-run homer to center in the first inning to get the Bobcats on the board. He wasn’t done yet—his second long ball came in the fifth, part of a monster inning that blew the game wide open.
Gilmer’s offense came out firing, scoring in each of the first three innings. In the second, Landen McClure delivered an RBI single up the middle, and Mel Mosley followed with a run-scoring groundout. The third inning brought an offensive avalanche: Blake Grizzle and Peyton Chancey both doubled, while Cooper Cochran and Zander Shute chipped in with RBI singles to build a commanding lead.
By the fifth, the Bobcats were pouring it on. A six-run frame featured Gutillo’s second homer, an RBI groundout by Eli Cooper, and a pair of costly Towns County errors that brought in three more runs.
On the mound, Cooper Cochran earned the win, pitching three and a third innings while allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits. He struck out six and walked three. Jayden Grizzle came in for relief and shut the door, throwing one and a third scoreless innings and giving up just two hits.
Gilmer’s bats were relentless, piling up 15 hits. Eli Cooper, Zander Shute, Cooper Cochran, and Hayden Berry all recorded multi-hit games, and the team added five stolen bases for good measure. The defense chipped in, too, turning a clean double play.
Despite the loss, Towns County had bright spots. Shirley provided some punch in the cleanup spot, going 1-for-2 with two RBIs. S. Sarofin, Vardo, and McNabb each tallied two hits for the Indians.
The Bobcats will look to keep the momentum rolling when they return home to face Ridgeland on Tuesday.
