The Creekview Middle School girls 7th and 8th grade teams took on the 7th and 8th grade teams from Union at Blairsville. The 7th grade girls came away with a blow out win 50-19, getting 16 points lead scorer Hanna Jones. The 8th grade team did not fair as well losing 42-20, with the lead scorer being Whitley Reece, who with 12 points was her teams only double digit scorer. The undefeated 7th grade team (5-0) had their worst defensive start of the year, with four starters having to sit down because of foul trouble. After being down by two at the half 14-16, the Bobcats turned the tables. The Bobcats press defense held their counterparts to 3 overall second half points, while conversely the Bobcats exploded for 24 points in the third quarter alone.
Coach, Susan Nunn had this to say, “Best half of balls these girls have played all year, after the worst half of ball they have played.”
The eighth grade team, struggling with a lack of true guards, had several girls playing out of position. The Bobcats were only able to muster 7 first half points while giving up 20. The second half saw better offensive production with 13 points, while the defense gave up 22.
Nunn said, “I feel like this group is on the verge of great play, they just can’t get over the hump yet. But I have confidence they are going to pull it together.”
