Lady Bobcats Lose to Lady Rebels

The Gilmer County Lady Bobcats lost 50-24 to the Lady Rebels of Fannin County in a game that wasn’t as close as the score. Despite getting five blocked shots from sophomore Brittany Lowman, three in the first quarter, the Bobcats never led after taking an early 4-2 lead in the first quarter.The Bobcats tried to work Lowman, who finished with five points, in the post. However, the Lady Rebels counter with senior Lauren Junnier, who led all scorers with 15 points. The Lady Rebels closed the quarter with a 8-2 run, which allowed them to take a 12-6 lead into the second quarter.

The second quarter featured more of the same, as the Lady Rebels scored 17 straight points before junior Ansley Mulkey ended the scoring drought with a two point basket. The halftime score was 29-10.

The third quarter was the no better for the Bobcats. Just like the second quarter they were held to only four points in the quarter, while the Lady Rebels piled on the points taking a 42-14 lead into the fourth.

In the final quarter both teams emptied their benches. The Lady Bobcats were able to match their first quarter scoring with 10 points while the Lady Rebels scored eight.
