Bobcats Break Out Broom

The Gilmer Bobcats made the short trek to Fannin County to participate in three dual matches against the Pickens County Dragons, The Banks County Leopards and the home team Fannin County Rebels. They smoked the competition like Snoop Dogg at Bill Clinton’s house, winning 68-3, 62-9, and 78-0 respectively, despite using more backups than MC Hammer.The Bobcats first slayed the Dragons by rattling off five straight wins to take a 24-0 lead, before a three point minor win (less than 8 match point lead) by Pickens at the 130 pound weight class. The Bobcats responded with a minor win, pins in five of the next six matches (each worth six team points). The lone non pin was a technical pin (15 point match point lead) worth five team points.

The Banks County Leopards spotted the Bobcats two extra points with a flagrant misconduct at 140, with illegal kick to the face. The kick resulted in an ejection as well. The two points were gravy as the Bobcats cruised to a 62-9 victory.

The home team suffered the most thorough thrashing, as the Bobcats garnered more pins than the “Hellraiser” series, 13 in a row. The highlight of the dual was a supermodel level, pretty one-handed ankle pick by Hunter Barnes, which led to a nine second pin and numerous ‘ooh’s and ahh’s’ from the crowd. There were only two matches not decided by pin in the 78-0 shutout victory, both minor wins.
