Mr. James Q. “Tom” Davenport age 75 of Chatsworth Hwy Ellijay died Wednesday February 2, 2011. Mr. Davenport was born August 6, 1935 in Gilmer County the son of the late Robert and Myra Woodring Davenport. He had worked at Blue Ridge Mountain Woodcraft and was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter: Anglea Davenport and siblings, Herbert, Ernest and Calvin Davenport, Bernice Douglas and Eunice Kiker.
Survivors include: Wife: Wanda Davenport of the home, Son and daughter-in-law: Alan and Kendra Davenport, Ellijay Step-daughter: Teresa Hyder, Johnson City, TN. 2 grandchildren Kaylee and Kacey Davenport, step-grandchildren: Jonathan and Brandon Hyder. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services Saturday Febuary 5,2011 at 11:00am from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with Rev. Euel Reece and Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Interment was in the New Hope Baptist Church cemetery. The family will meet with friends Friday Feb. 4,2011 from 12 noon until 9pm. Bernhardt Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
