New Constitutional Study Group in Gilmer

Community

Venue has changed, we are now meeting at the Waters Building directly across from the First Baptist Church in downtown Ellijay. We the People . . .
A Constitutional study group met for the first time today at noon at Shane’s Rib Shack in Gilmer County. Fetchyournews.com spoke with Jason Turner, the group’s coordinator, about the meeting.

Jason, who is currently serving in the Navy, was inspired to begin this group after having his own rights violated. Jason explained he was denied due process in a legal proceeding while serving in Iraq. He also told us that many serving in the Military were denied their rights to vote when absentee ballots were not processed properly.

When asked what they hoped to accomplish, Jason responded “to work together collectively, take what we know and what we want to learn and study the Constitution. There is a lot of information to cover-83 documents.” Jason also has hopes of recruiting involvement of the younger generation. They are hoping their group will grow each week.

Currently the group has tentative plans of meeting at noon on Wednesdays at Shane’s Rib Shack. Anyone interested in more information may contact Jason Turner by email: Jason Turner or Jack Smith by phone: 706.635.3831
