“Cats” on “Cats” Crime

The Dalton Catamounts soccer teams visited the Gilmer Bobcats and clawed out two victories. The boys’ team catastrophically castrated the Bobcats with a 7-0 thorough thrashing. The girls’ team also posted a shutout with a 1-0 victory over the home team in front of a small but boisterous Gilmer crowd.

The Catamount boys scored easier than a pro ball player dating a “Basketball Wives” cast member, with three goals in the first half. Dalton’s first goal came with 11:30 left in the first half. Less than four minutes later, the Catamounts punctured the goal again. The final goal of the half came with 6:31 remaining.

The Catamounts’ relentless pressure continued in the second period, with three shots on goal in the first three minutes. The Catamounts scored a fourth goal off a penalty kick with just over 20 minutes left in the game. Dalton’s fifth goal came courtesy of a rebound off a penalty kick deflection. Two more goals were scored, with the last one also being on a penalty kick.

The Lady Bobcats put up more of a fight but failed to score a goal. They were finally done in by the Lady Catamount’s single goal, which was scored with 23 minutes left in the first half. Dalton controlled possession throughout the contest, limiting Gilmer’s shots on goal and bottling up the Lady Bobcats offense for the entire game.

The Lady Bobcats attempted to comeback in the second half, with several shots on goal, but was unable to pierce the Dalton defense.
