Attorney General Sam Olens drew a large and receptive crowd at the March meeting of the TEA Party of Gilmer County. Local District Attorney, Joe Hendricks who was a strong supporter in the 2010 election, introduced AG Olens to the gathering. After speaking on his role of Attorney General for Georgia, Mr. Olens took a number of questions from the audience on issues related to health care, illegal immigration, DOMA – the Defense of Marriage Act, and drug problems plaguing our area.
On Friday, April 15, the TEA Party of GC will host a “Tax Day Rally’ on the square in front of the court house. We will begin with a ‘rolling tea party’ – a parade of cars – starting at 11:00 from FBC rear parking lot. We are honored to have Terri Lynn Weaver, gospel musician and State Representative of the 40th District of TN to speak to the crowd and entertain them with her beautiful voice and music.
The guest speaker for the regular monthly meeting to be held on Tuesday, April 26 will be Michael Opitz from The Madison Forum to speak on the Constitution and addressing ‘myths’ or things we assume to be fact but not true to the tenets put forth by the founding fathers. Come and test your knowledge of this very important document and celebrated the second birthday of the TEA Party movement.
Join Dinesh D’Souza, former policy analyst in the Reagan White House and NY Times best-selling author, Congressman Tom Price, Congressman Tom Graves, Georgia House Speaker David Ralston, Martha Zoller and more for the 5th Annual Georgia “Defending the American Dream Summit” on April 30th! This event co-hosted by North Georgia TEA Parties will be held in Jasper at the Chattahoochee Technical College – Appalachian Campus.
