“BUDGET CUT” Tax Assessor Office Begins Monday with 1 Less Employee

Gilmer County Tax Assessor’s Office cuts budget for the balance of 2011 by $56,370.36.The Tax Assessor’s Board held a public monthly meeting on April 21st that was followed with an executive session. They emerged from the session with the budget cuts that the BOC had been requesting for months from the Tax Assessor’s office. The cuts came in the form of a personnel change.

FYN spoke with Chairman Jeff Holloway and he told us that the Board voted to dismiss Dawn Pruett from the position of Chief Appraiser. Mr. Holloway notified Dawn Pruett of the decision on Friday. The Chief Appraiser position was at a cost to the County of $84,555.54 per year including salary and benefits.

Mr. Holloway also told FYN that Stan King will fill the position of Chief Appraiser. Mr. King previously held the position of Assistant Chief Appraiser and will remain at his current rate of pay for now. The County will not have an Assistant Chief Appraiser at this time. FYN will bring updates should any more changes occur.
