Charles Gerald Grimshaw : Obituary

Mr. Charles Gerald Grimshaw, age 80, of the Owl Town Community of Ellijay, Ga., passed from this life April 27, 2011. A member of Good Samaritan Catholic Church, he was born April 2nd, 1931 to his late parents, Joseph Odell and Cececile Lilliam Coates Grimshaw in Plattsburg, Clinton County, New York. Mr. Grimshaw graduated Chaplain Central High School, Class of 1949 and served honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He retired from the Federal Department of Transportation after 30 years of employment. Mr. Grimshaw was an active member of the North Georgia Honor Guard. He is preceded in death by daughter Kathryn Jones, son Albert Paul, brothers Emerson and Joseph Grimshaw.

Survivors include wife of 41 years, Arlene Butler Grimshaw of the home; children and in-laws, Nancy and Gary Kennedy of St. Augustine, Fl., Robert and Patricia Grimshaw of Bowie, Md.; grandsons and great grandson, Jason and Christopher Grimshaw, Travis and Ryan Turnbull and Jacob Gohr; sister, Ruth Grimshaw Strack of Bellstar Spa, N.Y.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Marjorie Grimshaw of Ellijay, Ga.; Paul and Bernice Grimshaw of Champlain, N.Y.

A funeral mass will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon, May 2nd, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Church with Father Randy Mattox and Col. George Pletcher officiating. Military Rites will follow at the Logan Funeral Home Pavilion with Military Rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, May 3rd, 2011 at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.

Family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the North Georgia Honor Guard, P.O. Box 473, Blue Ridge, Georgia 30513.

Family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 1st, 2011 at Logan Funeral Home.
