Build an Ark Animal Rescue brought the animals and were joined by Gilmer High School students for a very enjoyable visit with the residents at Gilmer Nursing Home. Fetchyournews.com spoke with Tammy Baker, Activity Director for Gilmer Nursing Home, about Build an Ark’s visit and she also told us about several activities planned for the residents. FYN hopes to share the Nursing Home’s activity calendar soon.

FYN also visited with some Gilmer High School students on hand for the visit as well. Normally the students visit and volunteer at Build an Ark as a work study with activities such as brushing the horses, shearing the sheep, and basic care for the animals.

Build an Ark Rescues brighten the day for many at Gilmer Nursing Home

Build an Ark Animal Rescue is located in Gilmer County and is run by Susan Littlejohn. Susan has dedicated her life to animals and was on hand at the nursing home today with several of her current rescues.

Along with the students from Gilmer High School and Susan -also present for today’s visit were, Mizpah(a Jacob Four Horned Sheep) Caramela and Betsy (Katahdin lambs), Mr. & Mrs. Noah (2 White Doves) and Henny Penny (A Rhode Island Red). Henny Penny is approximately 2 months old and previously had an injured leg but is doing fine now.

Susan dreams of the day when the rescue’s capability grows and can do many more community outreach visits. FYN will update our site tomorrow with additional photos and videos of Nursing Home visit.
