The Founding Board of the Oakland Academy Charter School invites the community at large to attend a public informational meeting regarding the proposed new free public charter school in Cartecay. The meeting will be Thursday, May 26th at 6 pm at the Oakland Clubhouse next to the school in the evening after the final day of school at Oakland Elementary.

We will be sharing a brief presentation on charter schools and then working to gather ideas that the community has for our new charter school. One of the requirements for getting our charter approved is showing that there is interest in support in the community and we cannot do it without you.

Oakland Academy proposes to open as a start-up charter school in August of 2013, serving Grades K-7 and increasing to Grades K-8 in the second year. We are seeking the input of the community in Gilmer County as we prepare our application for approval. Your questions, suggestions, and input are critical to the success of Oakland Academy.
