The NTSB, a representative from the US Forest Service and crews from Atlanta Air Recovery entered the Rich Mountain Wilderness around daylight Saturday morning. A helicopter and flatbed trailer was staged in a field about 6 miles down Turniptown Road while the wreckage was prepared for removal.

The helicopter started in around 9am and by 11:05 am the airlift of the plane wreckage was complete. The ground crews returned at noon and by 1pm Atlanta Air Recovery were gone with the wreckage.

Jose Obregon of NTSB said this completed the crash site investigation. We were told the wreckage was being transported south of Atlanta where the investigation would continue to try to determine the cause of the crash.
