Update: Bobcats Showing “Show Me” State

The Gilmer High School Wrestling program has already been working to better itself for next year’s season. On May 30th through June 1st, Gilmer hosted the Gilmer Granby Camp in the GHS Gym from 8:00-3:00, in which they wrestled with other teams from across the state of Georgia. On June 2nd-3rd, the team traveled to Chattooga to participate in the Chattooga War Lodge Duals. They continued their summer as they hosted the Gilmer Duals in the Gilmer Middle School gym for both middle and high schoolers.

On June 2nd-3rd, the team traveled to Chattooga to participate in the Chattooga War Lodge Duals. They continued their summer as they hosted the Gilmer Duals in the Gilmer Middle School gym for both middle and high schoolers.

The team left on Thursday, June 9th, for their annual trip to the Missouri Tiger Style Camps. This camp takes place in Columbia, Missouri, and the wrestlers will be given many opportunities to better their wrestling techniques. Friday night, the team will wrestle three time state champs Nixa. On Saturday, they will then continue on to wrestle former state champions Ozark, and then a team in Jefferson City. The camp Tiger Style camp takes place on Sunday through Thursday. Assistant coach to the Tiger Wrestling team Matt Pell will once again be instructing this camp.

“We hope to be camp champs as well as face wrestlers who will challenge us to a higher level,”

says head coach Sam Snider.

The boys will return to Ellijay late Thursday night, with added experience. The camp Tiger Style camp takes place on Sunday through Thursday. Assistant coach to the Tiger Wrestling team Matt Pell will once again be instructing this camp. The boys will return to Ellijay late Thursday night, well experienced at the sport they are already great at.

For the two weeks after the camp, the team will have hour and a half work outs in the Noah Harris Center two days a week, before leaving for the Roswell Summer Duals on July 1st and 2nd. The team will be rewarded with a free week from July 3rd to the 9th, returning for more work outs on the twelfth and fourteenth. The final camp of the summer, the Appalachian State Camp, starts on Friday, July 14th, and ends on the 18th.

Coach Snider and Coach Henson work their wrestlers well every summer, just as they are this summer, and it is no wonder they have had numerous state titles and individual state placers in their years of coaching.
