It’s Official! Gilmer County Schools Privatize Custodial Services, Buys $14,000 in Sick Days.

In response, the Board passed an amendment to the recommendation to buy, according to Mr. Dorsey,

“somewhere around $14,000”

in unused sick days at their current daily wage.On June 14th, The Board of Education unanimously passed a resolution to privatize custodial services, awarding Southern Management Company the contract. When asked about sick days unused by custodial employees, a price tag of $14,000, Superintendent Dorsey replied,

“Currently, if we were to terminate them and this company take(s) over, then due to the termination clause, then they would lose those sick days.”
