God bless the USA. This morning, July 24, 2011, the first truss was set at Build an Ark Animal Rescue but not before the USA flag was attached.About a month ago an older gentleman knocked on my office door and asked if I wanted to buy an American Flag. My first reaction was I don’t have time for this and then the gentleman said if I bought the flag I would be supporting the veterans. That got to me so I bought the flag that day not knowing where I would put it and the barn never crossed my mind.

That flag lay on a shelf for the last month and this morning as I was driving to the barn to watch the first truss be set I thought that truss needs a flag. I stopped at my office got that flag off the shelf and now that flag has a home hanging from that truss.
Charlie Vitchers saw a flag one day hanging from scaffolding at Ground Zero. He took it home put it in a bag, much like on the shelf. Several years later as they were preparing for the trip to Greensburg, Kansas Jeff Parness asked Charlie, do you have anything from 911 you could take with us. Charlie responded I can take this flag. That became the National 911 Flag.
That flag will be at the Gilmer County High School next Saturday. Don’t miss being a part of history. Just like the flag on the shelf, next time you look at the flag, remember no matter how big or small, there’s always a story with every American Flag. God Bless The USA.
