Edward Garland : Obituary

Mr. Edward Garland age 76 of Duluth, Georgia, formerly of Ellijay, passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011He was born March 1st, 1935 to his late parents Will and Ina Garland in Ellijay, GA. Ed enjoyed gardening, cherished talks with his beloved grandchildren Andi and Slade about their daily lives, fishing in his jon boat and watching old western shows on television. He was a master at telling jokes and storytelling about his early memories in the mountains of Gilmer County. Sweet memories of his laughter will live forever on. Ed is preceded in death by sisters Ruth G. Burnett and Dorothy G. Edmondson; brothers: Kenneth, Joe, James and Wade Garland; sister-in-law Christine R. Garland; and brother-in-law Howard Edmondson.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to KWVA Wounded Warrior Fund, P.O. Box 51, Lewes, DE 19958 in memory of Mr. Garland.

Survivors include beloved wife of 34 years, Lois Garland of the home; step-daughter and spouse Kathy and Greg Broom of Villa Rica, grandchildren and spouse; Andi Broom, Slade and Katie Broom; sister and brother-in-law Alice and Ernest Edmondson of Ellijay; brothers and sisters-in-law Emory and Betty Garland of Ellijay, Lewis and Mary Garland of Houston, TX, Willa Neil Garland and Helen Garland of Ellijay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4th, 2011 from the Logan Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Butch Jones officiating and vocals by Jim Wright.

Interment will follow in the Pisgah Church of Christ Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Slade Broom, Edwin Edmondson, Charles Edmondson, Dennis Garland, Rick Garland, and Scott Garland.

Visitation will be Thursday, August 4th, beginning at 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
