Mr. James “Jimmy” Cleveland Chastain, age 57, of the Tails Creek Community of Ellijay, Ga. passed from this life on Friday, August 5th, 2011 from the Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tn. Born December 8th, 1953 to his parents, Donald Earl and Mary Ruth Barnes Chastain in Ellijay, Gilmer County, GA. He was a member of Tails Creek Baptist Church and Oak Bowery Masonic Lodge #81, a graduate of Gilmer High School, Class of 1970 and was the head of the maintenance department at Galaxy Carpet Industries. Mr. Chastain is preceded in death by his father Don Chastain.

Survivors include mother, Mary Ruth Barnes Chastain of the home in Ellijay, Ga.; Aunts and Uncles: Bernice Barnes of Ellijay, Ga., Nena and Buford Pritchett of Ellijay, Ga., Ollie and Charlie Sales of Austell, Ga., Earl and Wanda Barnes of Ellijay, Ga., Helen James Barnes of Ellijay, Ga., Ralph and Cathy Chastain of Avondale Estates, Ga., Claude Chastain of Dalton, Ga.; Little Sis Karen Kerr of Ellijay, Ga. ; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 8th, 2011 at Tails Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sammy Adams, Rev. Billy Nealey and Rev. Eddie Kerr officiating. Music and vocals performed by Tracy Abercrombie, Karen, Vicki and Marissa Kerr and Wanda Davis. Graveside Masonic Service by The Oak Bowery Lodge #81 will follow at the Tails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Charles Crooke, Brondy Davis, Leonard Abercrombie, Kenney McClure, Artland McClure, Bryon Abercrombie, Jerry Baxter, Scott Barnes, Darren Barnes, Billy Cantrell, Ronnie Abercrombie, Mike Barnes, Mitch Barnes , Brandon Kerr, Larry Waddell, Roger Pritchett and Billy Davis.

Family will receive friends at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 7th, 2011 at the Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
