United Community Bank Demostrates Why “Community” Is Its Middle Name

Build an Ark, Business

Gilmer County had several visiting volunteers the last two weeks of July in a special event that brought the entire community together with hundreds of visitors. New York Says Thank You (NYSTY) selected Build an Ark Animal Rescue as this year’s rebuild project and came together to “re-build a barn”!

FYN has decided to highlight some pretty amazing local businesses that showed they are definitely committed to the community. Today we are sending a special “Thank You” to our friends at United Community Bank for their willingness to “do what they can!” United Community Bank came on board to help with the project in several areas and their contributions helped make the weekend a wonderful success. For example, bank employees delivered the entry tents for registration, pens, water, and of course, Amber Davenport was on-site helping out as often as possible.

President of United Community Bank, Jamie Tallent, also joined the volunteers and saw first-hand how much progress was being made on the Ark’s Educational Center. The bank made the Educational Center possible; it was the project’s main contributor. In fact, the Educational Center was dedicated by United Community Bank. NYSTY Founder, Jeff Parness, and Parness’ son, Joshua, told Tallent how much they appreciated the bank’s support.

Both Jamie and Joshua Parness seemed to thoroughly enjoy their time together as Joshua explained his special instructions on the art of driving nails. It appeared the spirit of “paying it forward” and spending time at the farm, watching the progress on the building made the bank’s involvement all the more special.

So many thanks go out from everyone to United Community Bank – we all agree “Community” is a fitting middle name!
