Gilmer Tea Party Hosts Senatorial Town Hall Meeting

On Saturday August 20th, The Gilmer County Tea Party will host a Senatorial Town Hall Meeting at The North Georgia Christian Academy located on Highway 282 West in Ellijay. The meeting will begin at 10:00 A.M. and will feature U.S. Senators for Georgia, Saxby Chambliss (right) and Johnny Isakson (left). The senators will take questions from constituents and address current issues.

Senator Chambliss was elected to the Senate in 2003 and has sat on various committees, such as The Senate Armed Services Committee and The Senate Committee in Intelligence. Chambliss earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of Georgia in 1966 and a law degree from The University of Tennessee College of Law in 1968. He has been married since 1966, resides in Moultrie, Georgia and has two children and five grandchildren.

Johnny Isakson was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004 and was reelected in 2010. Senator Isakson introduced the Biennial Budgeting and Appropriations Act and co-sponsored the Balanced Budget Amendment. The senator was also one of the original authors of the No Child Left Behind legislation. In 1966, Isakson graduated from The University of Georgia and served in the Georgia National Guard from 1966 until 1972. He has been married since 1968 and has three children and nine grandchildren. Isakson and his wife live in Marietta, Georgia and attend The Mount Zion United Methodist Church.
