Faith Works All Ways

Religion

We are familiar with the concept of faith regarding our Christianity. It is taught and written about from every angle imaginable. Faith is the foundation of our relationship with God. The following two verses from Hebrews 11 sum up the faith concept very well.

Vs. 1-2, Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval.

Vs. 6, And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

What many don’t think about is that faith is foundational to almost everything else in life, even if one doesn’t believe in God. The real question is then where are we placing our faith? Everyone has faith even if they have faith in nothing.

An atheist (if there really is such a thing) has faith that God does not exist. An evolutionist has faith that all creation came from a Big Bang emanating from an initial particle of matter the size of a pencil dot. Of course, they don’t know where that dot of matter came from in the first place. That should bother them.

In the natural plane, we all have faith the sun will rise tomorrow and that the moon will continue to affect the tides. We have faith that gravity will keep us anchored to the ground and that there will be enough air tomorrow for everyone. We don’t think about these things but we do have faith.

I don’t know about you but it takes a lot more faith to believe in evolution than it does to believe in God. It takes more faith to believe God doesn’t exist than to believe He does.

We can’t explain everything in the Bible. We can’t even intellectually understand some things in the Bible. Maybe we can’t understand how a fish can swallow a man for three days especially when the man lives. Or, maybe we have trouble figuring out how Noah pulled off his cruise with all those animals. But, it doesn’t really matter if we get all the answers now. Faith covers them all. It always does. It always will.

If we don’t have the “faith” to believe this, we will spend way too much unproductive downtime, time that could be used for profitable ends in the Kingdom. Have faith that God will provide everything you need when you need it, and He does know when you need it.
