Purple Hurricanes Monsoon on Bobcats’ Parade: Cartersville Wins 31-0

The Gilmer High School Bobcats football team traveled to Cartersville to take on the Purple Hurricanes. The “Cats” came up all wet as the Purple Hurricanes poured it on, in a 31-0 shutout victory.
The “Canes” splashed the scoreboard early, with a 59 yard touchdown pass from Tyler Will to Elijah Windon. Following a successful point after attempt, Cartersville was up 7-0 before two minutes of the game had been played.
The Bobcat defense held tight for the rest of the first half, and did not allow another touchdown throughout the half. Unfortunately the Gilmer offense was a wash against the Hurricanes’ defense, as all six Bobcats’ first half possessions ended with punts.

The Purple Hurricanes made Gilmer grimace in the second half, scoring 24 unanswered points, 10 off Gilmer turnovers. The Bobcats simply had no answer for Will and the speed of the Hurricanes receivers.

To add injury to insult, Bobcat back, Tyler Bertolini was lost with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter, and is expected to miss at least two games.

The Bobcats next take on rival Pickens High School, at home, Friday October 14th.
