Winners of the Scarecrow Invasion contest in Downtown Ellijay have been chosen.

The first place prize was awarded to Cartecay Bike Shop’s scarecrow, a “Just Married” couple on a bicycle.

Southwind Farm Supply took second place with their “Pumpkin Head on a Horse” scarecrow.

The third place prize was given to Mr. P’s, for their “Pumpkin Rump Gardener” entry.

This year’s event was sponsored by the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce with help from Mountain Ridge Garden Shop. More than 300 scarecrows have been created, significantly surpassing last year’s number of 75. Next year’s number of scarecrow creations is expected to almost double.
