David “Leo” Dotson : Obituary

Mr. David “Leo” Dotson age 79 of the Tails Creek Community, Ellijay, Gilmer County, GA, passed from this life on Monday, October 17th, 2011 from the North Georgia Medical Center. He was a fifty two year member of the Crossroads Baptist Church. He was born November 6th, 1931 to his late parents George Samuel and Florence Edna Pankey in Ellijay, GA. Mr. Dotson served his country honorably in the U.S. Army stateside during the Korean War and was self employed.

Survivors include wife of 55 years Rosalee Burgess Dotson of the home in Ellijay; daughter Sheila Renee Dotson of Tunnel Hill GA; sisters Pearl Dotson Banks of Ellijay, GA, Maudine Dotson Newton of Ellijay, GA, Bernadine Dotson Hensley of Ellijay, GA, Mildred Dotson Weaver of Ellijay, GA; brother Rev. Billy Dotson of Ellijay, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 from the Crossroads Baptist Church with the Rev. Mitchell Pack, Rev. Eddie Kerr, Rev. Arthur Lee Croft, Rev. Joey Patterson and Ret. Col. George Pletcher officiating. Music and vocals performed by Rosalee Burgess, Emmett Burgess and the Crossroads Church Choir. Interment service will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Cemetery with military rites performed by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be Brent Dotson, Bert Dotson, Seth Weaver, Kris Weaver, Leon Banks, Keith Newton, Chad Newton, Sonny Dotson, Jim Dotson, Jackie Dotson, Bobby McArthur, James McArthur, Ronnie Dotson and Mackie Dotson.

Family will receive friends beginning 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 18th, 2011 at Logan Funeral Home and Chapel.
