On Tuesday November 1st, the first day of the county’s FY12 budget hearings, the Board of Commissioners discussed the proposed budget to satisfy next year’s voter registration costs. The FY11 budgeted expenditures for voter registration was $49,018. The voter registrar, however, requested a $23,712 increase next year. The increase, of course, is due to the 2012 Presidential Election and all its electoral environs, including the Primaries in the spring. The requested increase will bring the total voting budget to $72,730.
