On Tuesday afternoon, November 1st, the Landfill Department submitted its projected budget for next year. The department’s projected revenue for 2012 is $377,000. This figure is down a bit from its 2011 budgeted revenue, which was $402,600. Through the end of September Landfill’s actual revenue amount was $218,787.29. Earlier this year, the Landfill Department charged a $1 bag for trash disposal at the transfer centers. However, the county fell short of expected revenue from the venture. As such, the county is moving forward with the privatization of Solid Waste Services in effort to make up the shortfall from this year’s lack of revenue.
The department’s requested expenditures for next year is $498,543, a decrease of $112,625 from this year’s $611,168.
