Opal Mary Watson Jordan : Obituary

Opal Jordan went home to be with the Lord, November 30, 2011, with her four children by her side. She was born October 21, 1926 in Dawsonville, GA. After 17 years working for Kraft Foods in Lakeland FL she retired and took residence in Chattanooga, TN.

She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church of Red Bank for her 23 years in Chattanooga, where she was active within the Prime Timers ministry. She was often referred to as “Granny” by family and those she befriended. She was known for her jovial personality and active lifestyle. She leaves her family and those fortunate enough to have known her with a legacy of devotion to the Lord, consistency in His word, passion for His people and always finding a way to encourage others to do the same.

She was preceded in death by her son Donnie Kinser, along with her parents Solomon and Mae Watson. Three sisters, ALma Hice, Mamie Chester and Helen Milsaps.

She leaves behind her devoted family; daughters Connie (Rev. Carroll) Holbrooks of Ellijay, GA, Kathi (Tommy) Freeman of Chattanooga, TN; sons Rev. David (Hilda) Kinser of Jasper, GA, Gene (Patsy) Kinser of Ooltewah, TN. In addition to her brothers, Howard Watson and Pete Watson of Ellijay, GA, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Friday December 2, 2011 at Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 East Brainerd Rd. Visitation will also be held Saturday December 3, 2011 at Logan Funeral Home, Ellijay, GA from 2 – 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday December 4, 2011 at Clear Creek Baptist Church in ELlijay, GA with Rev. Ron Bishop, Rev. Russell Hood, Rev. Dwight Martin and Rev. Carroll Holbrooks, officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the Logan Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3rd, 2011.
