Bobcats Breakout Broom, Remain Unbeaten

The Gilmer High School Bobcats wrestling team’s home opener was a Bobcat beat down of epic proportions. Gilmer gave the competition, or lack there of, no leeway. The Bobcats’ beat: SE Whitfield 61-13; Cartersville 70-9; and Sequoyah 67-9.The SE Whitfield Raiders were plundered by a plethora of pins, as the Bobcats’ beasts took 12 of 14 matches, including a Sam Rodgers first period pin.

The Cartersville Purple Hurricanes could find no “Prince Charming” to come to the rescue. The Gilmer grapplers opened with four straight pins, en route to a 24-0 lead. Gilmer gave up only three minor victories (less than eight match points, three team points), during the 70-9 win.

The Sequoyah Chiefs were scalped in much the same fashion as its predecessors. The Chiefs were deftly decimated, winning only two matches, including a forfeit due to injury. Gilmer “Cowboy Uped” on the Chiefs 67-9, making Sequoyah the unlucky victim of Gilmer’s 13th win.
