Amicalola EMC Donates $5,000 To Gilmer Community Food Pantry
Announcements December 9, 2011
Amicalola EMC donates $5,000 to Gilmer Community Food Pantry. $20,000 in total donations to area food pantries.
The Gilmer Community Food Pantry recently got an extra helping hand from Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation in the form of a $5000 donation. The timing couldn’t have been better, as the holiday season will bring an even greater demand on area food pantries with school children home for the holidays. Total donations to area food pantries during the month of October were $20,000.
Resources became available for the donations in accordance with Georgia unclaimed property laws. It is important to note that state law will only allow these resources to be used for three approved purposes: education, economic development and certain charities, and will not allow them to be used to offset rates or pay power bills.
Amicalola EMC continues to be a leader in it’s commitment toward the development and well being of local communities.
Amicalola EMC is a not-for profit electric cooperative which provides electricity and related services to over 45,000 locations in north Georgia in Bartow, Cherokee, Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Gordon, Lumpkin, Murray and Pickens counties.
