Mr. “Dick” Harold Richard Powell, Jr. age 68 of Ellijay died Saturday December 10, 2011.
Mr. Powell was born on July 11, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN. He is the son of the late Harold Richard Powell, Sr. and Ruth Chandler Powell. Mr. Powell was the owner and operator of the Western Auto in Vero Beach, FL from 1959 to 1982. In Ellijay Mr. Powell was a developer and builder from 1988 to 1998. Mr. Powell was also a member of the Cartecay United Methodist Church and a past member of the Ellijay Lions Club.
Survivors include: Wife of 50 years: Toni Jeanene Martin Powell of the home; Son & daughter-in-law: Harold Richard “Rick” III and Sandra Powell, Sebastian, FL; Daughter & son-in-law: Tami Powell Dye and Robert Dye, Stuart, FL; Grandchildren & spouses: U.S.N. Petty Officer 2nd Class Harold Richard IV and Christine Powell, Norfolk, VA, Michael Chandler and Tiffany Boyette, Ellijay; 1 Great granddaughter: Lillian Mabel Boyette, Ellijay; Sisters: Sharon McClarnon, Vero Beach, FL, Janet Gray, Jupiter, FL.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday December 13, 2011 at 2pm from the Chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Cartecay United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday December 12th from 4pm until 7pm at the Bernhardt Funeral Home.
In lieu of Flowers the family ask that donations be made to Hospice Advantage @ 583 Highlands Crossing East Ellijay, GA 30540 Or to the Cartecay United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund @ 7629 Hwy 52 E. Ellijay, GA 30536 in memory of Mr. Powell.
